Dialoque with companies

PGGM and its client see it as their duty to enter into dialogue with the companies in which they invest. PGGM has been involved in such engagement activities in the Netherlands for some years, either directly or via Eumedion.

UK asset manager F&C has been responsible for PGGM’s engagement activities outside the Netherlands since 2001. In the context of the Responsible Engagement Overlay programme, F&C enters into dialogue with the companies in which PGGM invests on behalf of its client, cooperating closely with them to establish positive policies and behaviour on human rights, the environment, corporate governance and social issues.

PGGM is increasingly conducting engagement activities itself on behalf of its client, in the Netherlands and other countries. We have developed a new policy and recruited specialist staff and we intend to enter into structural, systematic and visible dialogue with the financial markets and the individual companies in which PGGM invests on behalf of its client, with the aim of:

  • improving corporate governance internationally 
  • promoting improvements with regard to environmental and social issues.

In the context of the Responsible Engagement Overlay programme, F&C reports quarterly on the dialogue it holds with companies in which PGGM invests on behalf of its client.
