Geraldine Leegwater

Chief Executive Officer Investment Management

"After studying Economics and East European Studies at the University of Groningen, I began my career as a management trainee at ABN AMRO and started out in asset management. There, I gained extensive knowledge and experience in various rewarding roles, including analyst and portfolio manager.

In 2004, I made the move to ABN AMRO’s pension administration organisation, first as Head of Investments and later as Chair of the Executive Board of the pension fund. For a long period, I combined this with serving on the Board of Pension Fund ABP, where I also chaired the Investment Committee.

After this role, I aspired to a position that would bring me closer to the ‘work floor’. I found this in the role of Chief Investment Management at PGGM, where I also joined the Executive Committee. PGGM holds a leading position in the Netherlands when it comes to pensions and investments, and is also strongly committed to a healthy care and welfare sector. With my knowledge of the investment chain and broad experience in the pension domain, I am eager to contribute to this mission.

Alongside my role at PGGM, I am involved in the pension programmes at ESAA, affiliated with Erasmus University. More recently, I have also taken on a role as board member of DUFAS, the Dutch industry association for asset managers.

In my free time, I enjoy mountain biking with my husband, swimming with my daughter, running, and walking the dog. You can often find me in the woods of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.”
