Jouw rol

As a Junior Investment Risk Manager, you help ensure that investment portfolios are managed within agreed mandates and risk limits. You work close to the investment process and deal with real portfolios, real data and real decisions.

Your core responsibility is supervision on risk and mandate limits. You supervise compliance, detect breaches of investment restrictions, validate facts and discuss these with the relevant stakeholders. In your role you work constructively with investment professionals, while maintaining independence and applying rules consistently. You are able to be collaborative, while also firm when governance and limits require it.

This role combines analytical work, stakeholder interaction and continuous improvement initiatives, and offers an environment that challenges you to learn about institutional investment risk control at a rapid pace.

As a Junior Investment Risk Manager, you will

·      Supervise compliance with mandates and risk limits across public and private markets.

·      Detect and analyze (potential) limit breaches.

·      Discuss breaches and follow-up actions and ensure proper documentation and closure.

·      Apply procedures consistently, even in situations with pressure or ambiguity.

·      Improve risk controls, processes and tooling to increase quality, transparency and efficiency.

·      Gradually take ownership of specific limits, asset classes or supervision processes.

You will learn

·      How risk limits and mandates function in practice within a large institutional portfolio.

·      How breaches arise, how they are assessed and how they are resolved.

·      How to work effectively with investment professionals while maintaining independence.

·      How to operate in a controlled risk environment and continuously improve it using data and systems.

What a day at work could look like

On Tuesdays, the whole team is in the office. The day starts with a knowledge-sharing session, where a colleague shares insights on supervising the market risk for the new Total Portfolio Mandate.

You then turn to your inbox, where you’ve received a request to assess whether a new mandate is clear, unambiguous, and can be supervised in our systems. Before the meeting with the investment manager to discuss your findings, you check SimCorp Dimension for any compliance alerts, such as country concentration limits. If a limit is exceeded, you flag the breach with the responsible investment manager so corrective action can be taken.

Being in the office means more than meetings and analyses. We share coffees, enjoy lunch together, and make room for personal connection as a team.
