Senior Data Engineer Finance,Performance & Risk, with Product Owner responsibilities
Jouw rol
You will join PGGM Investment Management as a Data Engineer embedded within the Finance, Performance and Risk domain, working directly with risk managers, finance professionals, data stewards and other domain experts. In this role, you act as the vital link between our Finance, Performance and Risk teams and our next‑generation data platform. You will help onboard this new platform while further developing our existing data landscape — designing, building and optimising data products that strengthen the investment process and support our “Know what you Own” ambition.
We will encourage you to take on Data Product Owner responsibilities as well. This might range from managing the backlog together with the Domain Owner to being first point of contact for business teams and representing the domain in data governance and prioritization forums.
Your work goes well beyond technical delivery. You will translate complex analytical needs into tangible data deliverables, shape reliable data models, monitor critical interfaces, and ensure that high‑quality, timely and trustworthy data is available to all stakeholders. You will also help drive innovative data and analytics use cases as part of our broader strategic investment in data capabilities.
Technical expertise is essential, but so is your ability to collaborate effectively with business teams, communicate clearly, and help foster a strong data culture. A solid understanding of investment management and finance — from public and private asset classes to cost accounting and regulatory developments — enables you to ask the right questions and deliver data solutions that truly move PGGM forward.
Key responsibilities
- Enable PGGM’s Finance, Performance and Risk domain’s data strategy by developing high‑quality, reliable and well‑governed data products that support the full investment management organisation.
- Take a proactive role in designing, implementing and continuously improving data processing workflows for diverse and complex data sources — including performance data, risk data, sustainability data and financial data — ensuring they are fit for purpose.
- Ensure high data quality through validation, reconciliation, monitoring and automated controls, recognising that data quality makes or breaks the impact of a data product.
- Work closely with the business teams within the domain and other business stakeholders to understand their objectives, and translate these into clear, effective and actionable technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers from other teams, the data infrastructure team and data architects, ensuring alignment in design choices, architecture principles and platform evolution.
- Share knowledge and support capability development within Finance, Performance and Risk by mentoring colleagues, strengthening engineering skills across the team, and helping business stakeholders improve their technical understanding and data‑maturity capabilities.
- Take on Data Product Owner responsibilities, such as managing the backlog , being first point of contact for business teams and representing the domain in data governance and prioritization forums
