We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Investment Director to support the Lead Portfolio Manager in a newly established investment mandate focused on climate and energy transition solutions. This role presents a unique opportunity to execute a direct investment strategy that targets scalable, high-impact companies and projects advancing decarbonization, renewable energy, grid solutions, efficient and smart infrastructure, clean technologies, CCUS and circular economy models.

As a senior member of the investment team, the Investment Director will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, structuring, executing, and managing direct investments. The ideal candidate will bring deep sector expertise, a strong investment track record, and a passion for driving the transition to a net-zero economy.


The Investment Director's key responsibilities include:


Strategic Leadership


      Identify key thematic areas and emerging technologies with strong impact and return potential.

      Contribute to overall fund strategy, risk management, and portfolio construction.

Deal Origination & Execution


      Lead sourcing of high-quality direct investment opportunities across relevant sectors and geographies.

      Build relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, advisors, and strategic stakeholders.

      Oversee due diligence processes, including commercial, financial, technical, ESG, and legal workstreams.

      Structure and negotiate investment terms, lead deal execution, and obtain internal approvals.


Asset Management


      Monitor portfolio performance and support portfolio companies in value creation strategies.

      Provide ongoing governance through board participation and strategic input.

      Assess and execute follow-on investments and exit opportunities.


Team Leadership & Representation


      Manage and mentor junior team members and investment analysts.

      Represent the firm in industry forums, investor meetings, and public engagements.

      Act as an ambassador for the firm’s mission and impact objectives.

CETS

CETS is a recently launched EUR 1 billion impact strategy. EUR 800 million is dedicated to direct equity and the investments are actively managed by the team. The objective of CETS is to make impact through (innovative) investments in the energy transition that contribute to measurable avoiding CO2 emissions. The team works closely together with the infrastructure team (direct investment strategy) and the private equity team (fund investment strategy).

You will support the energy transition in developed Europe by investing in emerging leaders that focus on scaling proven technologies and services 

Jouw achtergrond

Essential Experience


·      10+ years of experience in private equity, growth capital, venture capital, infrastructure, or principal investing roles.

·      Deep understanding of climate and energy transition markets, including trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.

·      Proven track record in sourcing and executing direct investments, ideally in climate tech, energy, infrastructure, or sustainability sectors.

·      Hands-on experience in supporting early stage and growth-stage companies, guiding then through strategic development and operational scaling to achieve EBITDA positive performance Strong understanding of business models and value chains in one or more of the following:

o     Renewable energy (e.g., solar, wind, storage)

o     Electrification and grid solutions

o     Sustainable fuels (e.g., green hydrogen, biofuels)

o     Circularity (e.g. recycling, more energy efficient solutions)

o     Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) or carbon markets


 

Skills & Attributes


·      Strong financial modeling, valuation, and structuring skills.

·      Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·      Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach.

·      Deep commitment to sustainability, climate impact, and ESG integration.


Preferred Qualifications


·      Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

·      CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional credentials.

·      Multilingual and/or international investment experience is a plus.
