Investment Director – NL Health New Technologies

We are seeking an Investment Director to drive this sub-mandate. This person will drive deal flow, build a strong investment pipeline, and collaborate with strategic partners to co-invest in solutions that create both strong financial returns and meaningful impact for healthcare and welfare workers – the backbone of our pension fund community.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in HealthTech investing, a strong network of like-minded investors and entrepreneurs, and an aligned mission to improve the resilience, capacity, and outcomes of the Dutch healthcare system.
The Investment Director's key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership
• Identify key thematic areas and emerging technologies with strong impact and return potential.
• Contribute to overall fund strategy, risk management, and portfolio construction.
Deal Origination & Execution
• Lead sourcing of high-quality direct investment opportunities across relevant sectors and geographies.
• Build relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, advisors, and strategic stakeholders.
• Oversee due diligence processes, including commercial, financial, technical, ESG, and legal workstreams.
• Structure and negotiate investment terms, lead deal execution, and obtain internal approvals.
Asset Management
• Monitor portfolio performance and support portfolio companies in value creation strategies.
• Provide ongoing governance through board participation and strategic input.
• Assess and execute follow-on investments and exit opportunities.
Team Leadership & Representation
• Manage and mentor medior and junior team members and investment analysts.
• Represent the firm in industry forums, investor meetings, and public engagements.
• Act as an ambassador for the firm’s mission and impact objectives.
Jouw afdeling binnen PGGM
NL Health targets a range of different investment strategies that visibly contribute to the healthcare transition in the Netherlands.
New Technologies: One sub-mandate is New Technologies, a EUR 100m mandate, which focuses on investing private equity in health tech opportunities, both in medical technologies as well as digital technologies.
Jouw achtergrond
Essential Experience
· 10+ years of experience in private equity, growth capital, venture capital, or principal investing roles.
· Proven track record in sourcing and executing direct investments in a healthcare setting, ideally in digital and medical technologies.
· Deep understanding of Dutch healthcare market, including trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills & Attributes
· Strong financial modeling, valuation, and structuring skills.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach.
· Deep commitment to sustainability, impact, and ESG integration.
Preferred Qualifications
· Advanced degree in Finance, (Health) Economics, Engineering, Technology, or a related field.
· CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional credentials.
· Multilingual and/or international investment experience is a plus.
